1st Place Mission Architecture at the 2023 NASA RASC-AL Competition in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Lanie was a member of the MIT team’s submission to the NASA Revolutionary Aerospace Concepts Academic Linkage Competition. MIT tackled the “Mars Homestead” theme and proposed a 10-year stay on the red planet complete with 2 villages, each supporting 18 people. The team will also be presenting their findings at the AIAA ASCEND conference in October of 2023.
Lanie’s contributions to the project included a heavy focus on the selection and development of ISRU technology systems, with a proposed Mars Makerspace ecosystem that can create and process a wide range of materials from local resources and feedstock to produce construction materials and parts to increase mission independence from Earth.
